Established in 1979, Bryce Marine was founded by Craig Bryce and originally situated at 1619 Manitou Road. Working alongside his brother, Brian Bryce, also a long-time marine business veteran, the business began. After six years of hard work and excellent sales and service, Craig was able to design and build a new facility in 1985, which better encompassed all aspects of the marine business. The current facility at 1682 Manitou Road includes 11 acres of property, 9,000 square feet of showroom, a 7,000 square foot service department, a comprehensive parts department, a 1,500 square foot accessory showroom and smaller shops for repairing

wood, metal and fiberglass components of boats. A storage barn was also built, enabling Bryce Marine to house a large inventory of incoming new boats and assemble trailers. A manmade test pond specifically designed for servicing boats is also a unique feature of the current property. Over 40 years the business flourished and became an established and award-winning part of the Rochester, Finger Lakes, and U.S. Northeast boating communities. Bryce Marine grew from its humble beginnings to include approximately fifteen full and part-time employees incredibly versed in all aspects of marine and small business operations.

Looking to the future

To ensure the business continued for the next generation and to edge his way toward retirement, Craig Bryce sold the business to Mike and Renee Keefer in 2020. Mike and Craig have been long-time friends and neighboring business owners, having built a relationship around common interests and business ventures. Mike has an extensive background in the auto retail business, first as an owner of a used car lot (Marsh Motors Inc.) and most recently as a sales department manager at Bob Johnson Chevrolet. As owner of Marsh Motors, Mike was also licensed and experienced in selling used boats. Longing to independently run his own business again, Mike and Craig forged ahead with the transfer in ownership. Mike and Renee build on the business’s solid foundation and are proud to be part of the next chapter of this amazing business!
